Apollo 15

You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain. You are the same, and your years will not fail.
Hebrews 1: 10 - 12.

Apollo 15
Whenever he gave an account of his landing on the moon during the flight of Apollo 15 in 1971, the astronaut J. Irwin always added: "The fact that Jesus Christ walked on earth is more important than the fact that man has walked on the moon." What was acclaimed as the zenith of technology at the time had less value than the coming of the Son of God to earth in the view of one of its chief actors. We should indeed reflect on the origins and the consequences of these two events: they stand in total contrast to each other!

On the one hand, man has a great natural desire to explore the world around him. It is an insatiable ambition compelling him to enhance himself over all.

On the other hand, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, humbled Himself to have a crib for a cradle, an event that went unnoticed by mankind apart from a few shepherds. He took a body like our own so as to serve God's interests through perfect obedience that reached its supreme expression in His death on the cross .

What resulted from these two events? That man walked on the moon didn't change much for you or me. But that Christ came to earth, died on the cross and was raised the third day has changed the fate of a multitude of people - all who believe in Him. And soon, in a display of unsurpassed power, He will take them to His heaven.

Today‘s reading: 2 Samuel 18: 19 - 32 · Titus 2: 1 - 8

It may be that Jehovah will look on mine affliction, and that Jehovah will requite me good for my being cursed this day. And David and his men went by the way; and Shimei went along on the hill's side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast...More
