Reconciliation

God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:18

Reconciliation
According to the teaching of the Bible, all people are sinners by nature. They hate the thought of a holy God to whom they are accountable. Thus, they have become His enemies. However, this doesn’t mean that God is man’s enemy. No, He loved human beings and sent His Son to earth as Saviour for them.

Since the enmity doesn’t come from God but from man, it is not God who must be reconciled with man, but man with God. Nevertheless, God took the first step towards this. His Son, Jesus Christ, died on the cross so that reconciliation with God would be possible. Through His death, He perfectly satisfied God’s holy and righteous demands on sinful man. As a result, God in His grace is willing to reconcile people to Himself. Therefore, all are now called through the good news of the gospel to “be reconciled to God” (2 Corinthians 5:20).

How then can we get peace with God? How can we be reconciled to Him? Through personal faith in the work that the Lord Jesus accomplished on the cross. Only through this can people who are enemies of God be made right with Him. All who stand on the firm foundation of faith in the Lord Jesus can now know that they are reconciled to God (Romans 5:10). This fact is eternally certain and incontrovertible.

Today’s reading: Nehemiah 6:1-19 · Proverbs 13:1-12

Not I but Christ

Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

Not I but Christ
I have heard it said, "People should be allowed to be themselves." But I can find no scriptural basis to support this statement, for freedom "to be myself" is to...More
