Christ as the purpose of life

For to me, to live is Christ.
Philippians 1:21

Christ as the purpose of life
Paul, once known as Saul, lived as a Christian and worked as a servant who was fully focused on the Lord Jesus. This attitude of his heart had its origin in his encounter with the Lord on the road to Damascus.

At that time, a light from heaven suddenly surrounded Saul. He heard a voice speaking to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” (Acts 9:4) It was the voice of Jesus Christ, who made Himself one with the persecuted believers on earth. The realisation that he was resisting the Son of God threw Saul to the ground. He saw his wicked life in the light of God and repented. He believed in the Lord Jesus and made a new start with Him. Thus, the self-righteous Saul became the humble Paul. The two questions he asked at that time shaped the rest of his life:

“Who are you, Lord?” Paul wanted to know Christ, who occupies the place of honour in heaven, better. The glory of the Lord Jesus now filled his heart and gave his life a heavenly goal.
“What shall I do, Lord?” Paul was now ready to give up his own desires and plans for his life and do what the Lord commanded him. Thus, he became a servant who worked devotedly for his Master.
In his purposeful way of life, Paul shows us that the life of faith is all about Christ.

Today’s reading: Hosea 4:1-19 · James 2:1-13

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"

Look For Teaching Moments

What do these stones mean?' Joshua 4:21 NIV

One of the most effective ways to teach is through teaching moments'. Jesus did that. When a fig tree didn't produce fruit, He cursed it and it immediately withered up. That got the disciples' attention (see Matthew 21:18-22). Then He explained that unless...More
