Andrew brings his questions to Jesus

Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked Him privately, Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign when all these things will be fulfilled?
Mark 13:3–4

Andrew brings his questions to Jesus
When you see the remains of the former temple wall in Jerusalem today, you get an idea of how enormous and magnificent the temple must have been. So you can also understand why the disciples reverently – and perhaps also a little proudly – point out to the Lord: “Teacher, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!” But Jesus tells them, “Not one stone shall be left upon another, that shall not be thrown down.” This announcement must have stunned them.

Then a little later, as they stand on the Mount of Olives directly facing the temple, they assail their Master with questions. They do not discuss or speculate, but they ask Him questions as close companions. And Jesus explains to them the signs that will announce His return and the beginning of the Millennial Kingdom.

Andrew has questions and goes to Jesus with them. In this he is once again an example for me. Where can I get answers to my questions? With God! And how does He answer me? Through His Word, the Bible, for “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16). My questions about life, as well as my questions about man’s beginning and future, are all answered by God in His Word. And when I find it difficult to understand the thoughts of God, I sincerely ask Him for help in prayer. He wants to make His will known to me and to convince me of the truth.

Today’s reading: 2 Samuel 15:30-16:4 · 2 Thessalonians 2:13-17

FALSE PROPHETS AND THEIR PROPHECIES-THE FALSE PROPHET

And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the...More

EVERYONE NEEDS A MIRACLE

Some years ago, I was invited to be the guest speaker at a garden party in an exclusive, highbrow residential area. Because I arrived at the venue quite early, I was made to sit for a while in the house of my host. The house was an exquisite parade of wealth and splendour. I had never seen such brazen display of...More

PRAY UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS

that when he cried to the Lord, the Lord healed him. This is another testimony of someone who believed in the God that answers prayers. May prayer for someone using this devotional is that as you cry unto God today, He will answer you as He answered Hannah, Jabez and Elijah in Jesus'...More

The bankruptcy that saves

None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him - for the redemption of their souls is costly, and it shall cease for ever.

You were not redeemed with silver or gold from your aimless conduct but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and...More
