A real way out

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).
Ephesians 2:4–5

A real way out
“I have never been lucky.” With these words, the man I visited in prison welcomed me. It really seemed as if misfortune had hit him particularly hard. His parents lived apart, so he never knew a real home. He grew up in different homes and spent a stormy youth. Soon he fell under bad influence.

As a result, he had to appear in court and was sentenced to imprisonment. Now he had been in prison for 13 years without anyone visiting him or taking care of him. “You can see how I am marked by fate. Can you tell me how I can get out of my predicament?”

“Perhaps it would be better if you changed a phrase in your question,” I replied. “Instead of ‘predicament’, put the word ‘sin’. By that I don’t mean the wrong of others, the consequences of which you will have to bear. I mean your own wrongdoing. Human justice has punished you severely. But think of God, who demands eternal punishment for sins. Come with the burdens of your life to the Saviour, Jesus Christ! Believe that He died on the cross to redeem you and to forgive your sins! On this path you enter into a right relationship with God. He accepts you as His own child and gives you His love. This will surely end your ‘predicament’.”

Today’s reading: 1 Samuel 28:1-14 · Colossians 1:1-11

The Psalm writes, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, "You are my God." My times are in your hand' (vv. 14-15 NKJV). As you walk with God you'll find that you spend more time waiting than you do receiving. And when you receive what you're waiting for, then...More

A Statement Of Purpose To Live By

Always give yourselves fully.' 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Next time you pass a McDonald's, think about this statement from the one of the founders: Ray Kroc. Press on! Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent....More
