Christmas – Easter – Ascension – Pentecost

Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Acts 2:21

Christmas – Easter – Ascension – Pentecost
A few months ago it was “Christmas”. These holidays commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. On which day this happened about 2,000 years ago, we can no longer determine precisely. The exact date is not important anyway. What is much more important is that Jesus, the Son of God, became man to redeem us from our sins.

To do this, the Lord Jesus had to die on the cross. He had never done anything evil. And yet He willingly allowed Himself to be punished by God for sin so that God could forgive us. Jesus died and rose again after three days. “Easter” is a reminder of this.

After His resurrection, Jesus remained on earth for forty days. Many of His disciples saw Him and were able to be convinced that He had really risen. Then He returned to God, His Father, in heaven. We speak of the “Ascension” – also a Christian holiday.

It is 40 days from the “Ascension” to today’s “Pentecost” Sunday. At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came to earth, as Jesus had announced to His disciples. The Acts of the Apostles reports on this event in the second chapter.

Pentecost was the birth of the Christian church. All believers were baptised into one body by the Holy Spirit; they became inseparably united with each other and with Jesus Christ, their Head in heaven.

Since then, many people have come to believe in the Lord Jesus – first in the surroundings of Jerusalem, then in Samaria, further on through Asia Minor and then in Europe. All believers worldwide today belong to the one church or congregation or assembly that the Bible tells us about in the New Testament.

Today’s reading: 1 Samuel 12:16-13:5 · Psalms 95:1-11

It is possible to connect with the Holy Spirit and to continue to flow in the power of the anointing even at increasing levels. If this is your desire,...More

TOUCH NOT

In today's Bible reading, while David and his men were away, the Amalekites invaded Ziklag, defeated the city and set it on fire, after which they took members of their families - wives, sons and daughters as captives. When they returned and saw the situation of Ziklag, David and his men were really distressed,...More
