Three results of new birth

Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God.
1 John 5:1

Three results of new birth
As natural human beings, we didn’t meet God’s standards. Therefore, we had to be born anew. When we personally believed in the Lord Jesus and His redemptive work on the cross, God gave us eternal life.

Three wonderful results of the new birth are described to us in 1 John 5.

We belong to a new family: “Everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him” (1 John 5:1). As believers, together we form the family of God, characterised by brotherly love. The new life makes us able to overcome our human differences and love one another from the heart.
We enter into a new conflict: “Whatever is born of God overcomes the world” (1 John 5:4). We have to overcome the world with its temptations and hostility. God has given us everything we need for victory. When we look in faith to the Son of God, who is stronger than the world, we receive strength to overcome it.
We possess a new ability: “We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him” (1 John 5:18). Because we possess new life, and the Holy Spirit dwells in us, we can say no to sin. Thus, with the Lord’s help, we are preserved from transgression.

Today’s reading: 1 Samuel 1:1-11 · Ephesians 3:14-21

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
(Galatians 6:1-2)
