Andrew brings his brother to Jesus

He (Andrew) first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, We have found the Messiah (which is translated, the Christ). And he brought him to Jesus.
John 1:41–42

Andrew brings his brother to Jesus
Andrew has followed Jesus Christ and he has come to know Him personally. And now he is fascinated by and satisfied with this person. He wants to tell others about Him. So he first seeks out his brother Simon and tells him, “We have found the Messiah”, the Saviour who “will save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).

We read in the report the short and yet so meaningful sentence: “And he brought him to Jesus”. Andrew is convinced himself – and is therefore able to convince his brother and lead him to Jesus. Andrew announces, evangelises, or passes on the good news of God. He does not calculate and does not ask, “What is one single person?” No, he cares about each individual. And so he starts in his environment, in his family, precisely with his brother.

Andrew has entrusted himself to Jesus, and now he brings his brother to Him, because he wants his brother to experience what he himself has experienced. What is the situation with me? Maybe I have been given this calendar by an “Andrew” personally; maybe I know that an “Andrew” prays for me and my very personal circumstances – that I might also find my way to Jesus. Or am I myself also an “Andrew” and have told someone else I care about of Jesus Christ because I want to bring them to Him?

Yes – Andrew is a role model for each of us! To this day, personal contact with individuals provides a valuable opportunity to share the gospel.

Today’s reading: Deuteronomy 11:1-17 · Matthew 24:37-51
