The presence of the Lord

Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:20

The presence of the Lord
After His resurrection, Jesus Christ gave His disciples the promise that He would be with them every day. This is still true today for all who believe in Him. Although we do not see our Lord, we know that He is near us at all times and in every place.

He is present in the workplace when we have to solve a difficult task or have a delicate conversation.
He is with us in our lonely hours and helps us to bear them and spend them for His joy.
He is with us and sustains us in faith when health problems trouble us.
He is with us on successful and joyful days so that we can share our joy with Him.

In the Bible we find many examples of believers who experienced the presence of the Lord.

Joseph was sold as a slave into Egypt where he had to serve Potiphar. It must have been hard for him as a young man to be so far from home. But Genesis 39:2 says, “The Lord was with Joseph”. He stood by him and prospered him in his labour.

The three friends of Daniel were thrown into the fiery furnace because of their faithfulness to God. During that time, the Lord came to them, for King Nebuchadnezzar declared, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God” (Daniel 3:25).

HOW PERSUADED?

In 2 Timothy 4:10, Demas - a co-labourer with Paul was floored by his love for the world. He became a victim of comfort. Today, many people are also becoming prayerless and shifting their or trust from God to uncertain riches. They are now tending towards the belief that money can fix everything. If you are in such...More

A LESSON FROM GOLIATH

At the first sight of David, Goliath despised him. He was amazed that the children of Israel could find no other man to fight him than a young boy. As if that was not enough, Goliath did not see any conventional weapon of war on David. So he asked, "Am I a dog?" The first lesson we have to learn from this story as...More

Always Be Humble

Who am Ithat you have brought me this far?' 2 Samuel 7:18 (NIV 2011 Edition)
A MEMBER of parliament took his little daughter to visit Westminster Abbey. As she stood looking up at its magnificent columns, her father asked, What do you think, sweetheart?' With childlike candour she replied, I was...More

Forgive And Move On (2)

Anyone who starts ploughing and keeps looking back isn't worth a thing to God's Kingdom!' Luke 9:62 CEV

If you're wise, you'll do four things:

(1) Focus on the road ahead. By looking in the rear-view mirror instead of what's up ahead, you'll end up in a ditch. Focus on the fact you've...More
