The "radio church" Latvia around the...

For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth; Your faith toward God has gone out.

1 Thessalonians 1:8

The "radio church" Latvia around the year 1980: The Christian faith and the spreading of the gospel were fiercely opposed by the rulers of the countries of the then USSR. At that time, Christians from Finland who ran a radio mission station had received permission to travel to Riga. In one family they visited, they also met an elderly woman. She had come from a distant village and had an interesting story to tell.

She lived alone in her cottage in a large village. One evening she came across the programme of this missionary station on the radio, and for the first time in her life she heard the gospel of Jesus Christ. After the broadcast, she folded her hands and accepted the Lord Jesus as her Saviour.

Thus began her life as a Christian. From then on, she regularly listened to the broadcasts of this radio mission and got to know the message of the Bible better and better. But one thought kept bothering her: Was she the only believer in the whole area? Or were there other Christians besides her? In any case, she had not yet met any. Cautiously, she asked around among the inhabitants of her village. And to her great astonishment, she soon found a woman who confessed Jesus Christ, then a whole family, and later someone else - there was a real "radio church" in this village! So she had not been the only one to respond to God's call. From then on, she was able to live out her Christian faith together with others. As a result, she was greatly strengthened and encouraged in heart.

Today's reading: Deuteronomy 1:1-18, Matthew 19:1-12

UNCOVERING EVIL

The presence of the supernatural power of God in a church can take that church beyond limits.
It can also uproot the presence of evil in the midst of Gods children. In Acts 5, a couple were uprooted through this. If we are going to sanitise the church, we need the Holy Spirit. Just as we need Him to heal, save...More

And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; ...More

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)

In the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time, but has manifested in its own due season His word.
(Titus 1:2-3)

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)
I can lie. Titus could too, and so could the Cretans. But God can not lie. I can deceive. But...More
