The young explorer Raymond...

The Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.

I will seek what was lost and bring back what was driven away.

Luke 19:10; Ezekiel 34:16

The young explorer Raymond Maufrais tried to get from Guyana to Brazil alone, passing through one of the least known areas of the country. For a while, news of him was received regularly - until he disappeared without a trace. Six weeks later, a native found Raymond's diary, which he had left in a deserted settlement.

Firmly convinced that his son was not dead, his father decided to search for him. For twelve years, he covered a total of 12,000 kilometres on 22 search expeditions - regardless of hardships and dangers. He searched for his son with unwavering perseverance: in the depths of the primeval forests and on the heights of the mountains. He carved his name into tree trunks and left messages in bottles. Driven by the desire to find his son, he ignored hunger and thirst and the constant threat to his life from native tribes, predators and snakes.

Finally, he gave up the investigation. Completely broken and aged by years, he returned. "Leave me alone," he told those who praised his courage. "I am only a poor man who has lost his son."

An impressive incident! Doesn't it remind us of the One who came to seek and save the lost? Jesus Christ, the Son of God, once left the glory of heaven and came to this earth. He accepted everything in order to bring about eternal salvation. From those whom He wanted to save, He experienced the most bitter resistance and only contempt. In the end, He died on the cross - out of love for you and for me! Like this loving father, Jesus Christ is looking for you even today. Will you let yourself be found? His joy would be unimaginably great.

Today's reading: Numbers 5:1-31 · Matthew 5:1-12

OFFENDED IN CHRIST?

The Christian race must be run with lots of patience or else it will be bungled midway. If you are inpatient with Gods timing, you will not only get into trouble but may not be able to finish the race. A good number of backsliders derailed from their heavenly track because of impatience. In Matthew 11:6 Jesus...More

Jehovah appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre. And...

Jehovah appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre. And he sat at the tent-door in the heat of the day. And he lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, three men standing near him.
(Genesis 18:1)

The spiritual elevation of Abraham in Genesis 18 and 19 is something very peculiar. He seems...More

THE HOLY SPIRIT

It is one thing to receive the anointing and another to keep growing on it. There are people who had the anointing, but today, everything has virtually ebbed out. It is possible to connect with the Holy Spirit and to continue to flow in the power of the anointing even at increasing levels. If this is your desire,...More

BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY

Yesterday we learnt it is not right for us to get angry with God or to take offence against Him, even if we experience the deferment of our hopes. The example of John the Baptist who earlier acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, but later doubted Him because of his painful experience of incarceration is a warning...More
