Is the Bible the Word of God?

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
2 Timothy 3:16

Is the Bible the Word of God?
To this question, the Bible itself gives a convincing answer. In the Old Testament it is made clear that this book was inspired by God. Three examples show the divine origin of the Bible with powerful effect:

In the opening chapters of Genesis, events are reported to us that are completely outside man's possibility of observation. How heaven and earth were created by the mighty work of God presupposes a knowledge that the writer of the book could only receive from God through revelation.
The historical books of the Old Testament have a character that we don't find in human history. The great men of faith who are presented are by no means portrayed as heroes. Abraham had a strong faith and is called the friend of God. David, the great king, was a man according to the heart of God. Nevertheless, the Bible also communicates the serious failures and grave sins of these men.
In the prophetic books of the Old Testament, we notice how directly people are addressed. There is no hesitation and no restraint. About 350 times it says: "Thus says the Lord". Through the prophets, God places His word on the consciences of men with power and authority.

Today's reading: Numbers 1:38-54 · Matthew 2:1-12

THE BREVITY OF TIME

How recklessly this age speeds to self destruction! The word of God is accurate and authentic in its prediction of the latter end of the world and in warning His saints of the end times, so that they are not overtaken by the prevalence of evil in this age! In virtually every facet of life, there is an overturning...More
