During my youth we lived in the...

He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.
John 11:25

During my youth we lived in the country. We had a beautiful garden with a stream running by. One day a boy and a girl passed by on the other side. I saw the little girl pull some watercress out of the ground by the roots and throw it into the water, and I heard her say, “They’re coming back to life and starting to grow.” – “What?” exclaimed the boy, shaking his head, “They’re going to come back to life? Just think about it: once you die will you come back to life?”

This little conversation puzzled me. I had been raised by Christian parents and found it almost incomprehensible that a boy of eight or nine had apparently never heard the Christian message of the resurrection.

Today I no longer wonder about it. Unfortunately, many people don’t know the Bible; they don’t know the account of Jesus’ resurrection or His announcement that all the dead will rise again.

And yet, sooner or later, everyone will be confronted with the question: “Once I die, will I come back to life?” Only God Himself can give a reliable answer to this question in His Word.

And the Bible clearly states that all who have died will rise again – either in the “resurrection of life” or in the “resurrection of judgment” (John 5:28, 29). Jesus Christ is the one through whom the resurrection has become historical fact. The resurrection is at the same time the hour of truth about the life of each one of us.

Is this perhaps the reason why so many ignore this subject?

Today’s reading: Ezekiel 18:19-32 · Psalms 119:161-176

Another thing that can divert your attention is opening your mouth prematurely to reveal your secret to sympathetic friends'. Never share a testimony until it is...More
