What can we expect with certainty?

For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
Galatians 5:5

What can we expect with certainty?
When we look at the future, our hearts are moved by expectations and fears. We don’t know what will happen to our health, family or career. Because so many things are out of our hands, much of what lies ahead is completely uncertain.

Only God knows the future. He gives a sure hope to believing Christians. In the Bible, He tells them what they can definitely expect:

o “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ” (Philippians 3:20). The Lord will come again to transform our bodies, freeing them from weakness, sickness and mortality. They will then be conformed to His body of glory so that we can dwell eternally in heaven.

o We are “looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:13). The Lord will come again to take us to Himself in heavenly glory. There we will see Him as He is. Later we will appear with Him glorified before the world.

o “Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells” (2 Peter 3:13). After the Millennial Kingdom, God will make new heavens and a new earth. In this new creation everything will be in complete harmony with God. What a glorious future!

YOU CAN BE HIS WITNESS

BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY

Yesterday we learnt it is not right for us to get angry with God or to take offence against Him, even if we experience the deferment of our hopes. The example of John the Baptist who earlier acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, but later doubted Him because of his painful experience of incarceration is a warning...More

Luke 2:45

We might as well face it, strife has even infiltrated our church life. It is true enough that the Church is now the Church militant. But, as such, its warfare ought to be that of dedication to revealed truth and divine...More
