Watch and Pray—The Key to Victorious Christian Living

Nevertheless we made our prayer to our God, and because of them we set a watch against them day and night.
Nehemiah 4:9

Watch and Pray—The Key to Victorious Christian Living
It is good to watch and pray! Nehemiah had set a watch because of the danger from the enemy around him. This was the secret to his victory over the enemy who would hinder rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem. This is also the way to victory in our Christian lives. Watching has the thought of observing and discerning the needs around us. Praying is the act of depending on God completely to help meet those needs.

In Mark 13 the Lord Jesus describes the difficult conditions that will exist in the world in the last days, conditions that could discourage believers as they see those days approaching. In verse 33 we are instructed to watch and pray. If we pray "with our eyes open," the world will not rob us of our loyalty to Christ. Watching and praying is also the secret of victory over the flesh. The Lord Jesus warned Peter, James, and John, . Later, Peter did not pray with his eyes open but walked right into temptation and denied the Lord.

Watching and praying will also give victory over the devil. Writing to the Ephesians, the apostle Paul describes the adversary we face and the armor we must wear. He goes on to remind us that we must draw from the arsenal of "all prayer and supplication in the Spirit" (Eph. 6:10-18). Spiritual victory comes from watching and praying. Peter tells us to "be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Pet. 5:8). Paul reminded those at Colosse that watching and praying is the secret of finding open doors for Christian ministries. He told them to "persevere in prayer, watching in it with thanksgiving (Col. 4:2-3 jnd).

UNCOVERING EVIL

The presence of the supernatural power of God in a church can take that church beyond limits.
It can also uproot the presence of evil in the midst of Gods children. In Acts 5, a couple were uprooted through this. If we are going to sanitise the church, we need the Holy Spirit. Just as we need Him to heal, save...More

And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; ...More

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)

In the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time, but has manifested in its own due season His word.
(Titus 1:2-3)
