The Blood of Christ (13)—His Blood Gives Us Access

Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh Let us draw near having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Hebrews 10:19-20, 22

The Blood of Christ (13)—His Blood Gives Us Access
In our scripture above, we find that Christ's blood gives us access into the holiest, into God's very presence. Amazing grace!

Notice, the Holy Spirit tells us we enter by the blood of Jesus. This is His name that brings before us His holy, perfect humanity, the blessed Man who always did the will of His Father. In the meaning of His name, we are also reminded that He is the Savior. How wonderful that He came not just to save us but to bring us to God (1 Pet. 3:18). And so His blood gives us access, not just into the court, or the holy place, but into the holiest, directly in the presence of God. It is a new and living way, in contrast to the old ceremonial way in which the Old Testament priests could, in a certain sense, draw near.

Notice too the exhortation, Let us draw near. So while every individual Christian can enjoy this access, it is especially the collective gathering of His people that is in view.

To encourage us to draw near, we are reminded that our hearts have been sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. We believe this refers to the consecration of the priests in the Old Testament (Ex. 29; Lev. 8). But while they had the outward ceremony, we have the inward reality! They were literally sprinkled with blood. Our consciences are relieved through His precious blood. As we draw near into God's presence, we do not need to be occupied with our sins, for Christ has put them all away. Our bodies washed with pure water answers to the priests being bathed. For us, we have been born again and have a nature that desires to please God.

If you have fridge, car or wardrobe, you will equally have their keys. From the foregoing therefore, it is apparent that several good things with value have their...More

The gospel had made great inroads into the aristocracy and among intellectuals, and had already changed the lives...More
