Defeating the Enemy’s Schemes Against the Christian Family

We do not wrestle against flesh and blood Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Ephesians 6:12-13

Defeating the Enemy's Schemes Against the Christian Family
If ever there is a day when people need to rise up in the power of His might to stand against the enemy, it is today. Today, the individual believer is under attack, the family is under attack, the assembly is under attack—anywhere the name of Jesus Christ is mentioned in truth, there will be an attack. But thanks be to God, His word gives counsel in light of this in Ephesians 6:12-13.

Our battle is not with the rulers of this age, not against persons; it is with the unseen forces who wage war against the family. We need to stand fast in the Lord Jesus Christ. We need to stand fast in the Word of God. We need to fortify ourselves and stand together on the Word of God. One more thing we can say about our enemy: he is a defeated foe. We must remember that our adversary the devil—who "walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Pet. 5:8)—is, because of Christ and Calvary, like a toothless lion. He cannot touch us with regard to our salvation, but he is known in the Word of God as the great deceiver, the prince of the power of the air.

We do not fight for victory, but we fight from the position of victory. Yes, the enemy has schemes, he has devices, he has a plan—he has a plan for your family, for your parents, for your young people, for your spouse, he has a plan for you. This is a very sobering thing to consider. On the positive side, while the enemy has a plan, the Lord has a greater plan. And the Lord wants us to walk in the good of that, of His plan.

Tim Hadley, Sr.

The prince of darkness grim—we tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure, for lo, his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.

Martin Luther
