Eternal Security of the Believer

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.
John 10:27-28

Eternal Security of the Believer
The Lord Jesus speaks of His sheep and presents absolute facts concerning them. Treasuring these truths in our hearts will bring much encouragement and peace.

My sheep hear My voice. All who have been redeemed by the precious blood of Christ have heard His invitation to come unto Him. His voice is of most vital value to them; other voices mean nothing. "He calls His own sheep by name and leads them out" (v. 3).

I know them, and they follow Me. Such intimate knowledge as this is of most marvelous comfort and joy to their hearts. It is the Lord of glory who says this, making it clear that every one of His sheep follow Him, and that He knows them and cares for them. Sadly, it is possible that some might be following at a distance and not enjoying the blessing of nearness. He is waiting for you to come closer.

I give them eternal life. Eternal life is a perfectly free gift from the Lord. This life is received at new birth, and nothing can change it. If it could ever be lost, then it would not be eternal. It is the same life that the Lord Jesus possesses, "the life of God." The value of such a gift is beyond measure. It is infinitely wonderful!

They shall never perish. The Lord Jesus goes to the greatest lengths possible to give assurance to every one of His sheep that they are eternally secure from the danger of being lost under the judgment of God. Adding to this, the Lord says, "Neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand." He tells us this because we are aware that the enemy of souls tries every means possible to separate believers from the Lord, but neither men nor demons can possibly accomplish anything to cause the slightest separation between the Lord and His beloved sheep.

GOD PROMOTES

When God set out to deliver the children of Israel from Egypt, it was to take them out of captivity and bondage and to lift them up. God has come to take you out of your current location in the miry clay to your promised land - a land flowing with milk and honey. This simply tells us that the God of Abraham, Isaac...More

TRAIN UP YOUR CHILD 1

One major undoing of modern civilized society is an abounding generation of untrained children. This trend did not just start, but has been on for some time now. The result is that many untrained children of few years back have become parents themselves. It is the multiplier effect of their lack of proper home...More

A LIBERAL HEART?

, God asked the widow to feed the prophet before taking care of herself. At the end of the day, what was not enough became more than enough. To what extent do you practice giving as an individual, family, church or nation?

Those who never give will continue to beg, if you desire to...More

Hebrews 11:24-28

Author Zora Neale Hurston wrote a book titled Moses, Man of the Mountain. Published in 1939, it retells the story of Moses and the Exodus. Hurston altered details of the story for her own purposes, weaving in allusions to African American history, folklore, and song. She reflected...More
