Be all of one mind, sympathizing,... He sent his brethren away, and they departed. And he said to them, Do not quarrel on the way. (Genesis 45:24) Be all of one mind, sympathizing, full of brotherly love, tender heartedseek peace and pursue it. (1 Peter 3:8, 11) Every time when my way takes me through a street busy with people I am freshly amazed. So many people are moving in opposite directions and yet it is very seldom that one bumps into the other. When it does happen, there is an "Excuse me" or "I am sorry" heard almost immediately. Why is that? I subconsciously use the faculties God has given me, and I am able to change direction quickly even though there are so many people heading towards me. I am thus equipped to avoid bumping into people, to give way, and to be considerate of others. Let us think about that for a moment, how it is with believers on their way to heaven. We are all running in the same direction and therefore we don't have to change course, and yet oftentimes we "bump" into each other much more often as compared to our example. We are God's children, brothers and sisters in the faith, underway not as a stranger among strangers and yet it is so very difficult for me to excuse myself when I have "bumped" into someone. Does that not cause me to think? Why do I at time "cut" others off and "push" them while on my way even though every one of us has a God-given place and path? "Do not quarrel on the way" . This I should also take to heart and kindly consider the other while we move on to the glory of the Lord, to the encouragement of our fellow believers! If we pursue peace (because this is so important for our fellowship with God and with one another), then I should not be too proud to say "Forgive me," if I through my impatience or carelessness have hurt someone! He also spoke of another class of people to whom everything would be spoken in parables; these He described as, "them who are without." How solemn that God should...More |

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:1-2) The verse above enjoins spiritual ones...More |
