What Is “The Good” of Those Who Love God? (2)

All things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Romans 8:28–29 NKJV

What Is “The Good” of Those Who Love God? (2)
What is that “good,” then, for which absolutely all things positive and negative work together? The answer is found in what follows: “who are called according to His purpose.” This is the point we all miss: “His purpose.” And what is it? To be “conformed to the image of His Son.” Let us read that again and ponder over it.

Yes, His present work in us is the same as what He predestined us for: to be conformed to the image of His Son. This is the good that God has in view for His children: to be more and more conformed to the blessed and perfect image of His Son! This is why all things truly work together for this good.

Then, in all things positive and joyful, are we praising and giving thanks to God for all these things He freely gives us to enjoy? Are we rejoicing in the Lord? Do we admire His perfect works and praise Him for who He is? In all ordinary things, are we faithful and persevering, praying unceasingly, being occupied with the Lord, having our minds on things above where Christ is? When negative things cross our path, do we confidently cast ourselves on the good and tender cares of our God and Father, looking to Him for the strength, grace, and mercy we desperately need, knowing that He is sensitive and compassionate toward us? Through “all things” our Lord Jesus walked perfectly. And now, our God and Father also uses all things to produce in us the image of His Son.

Soon, God’s purpose will be perfectly completed, when we will see Christ face to face and be like Him (1 Jn. 3:2). Meanwhile, may all things that this day brings be occasions to bear more fruit—likeness to Christ—to the glory of the Father (Jn. 15:8).

The only true attitude for the Christian is that of dependence...

I am come from heaven, not that I should do My will, but the will of Him that has sent Me.
(John 6:38)

The only true attitude for the Christian is that of dependence. The moment we get off the ground of dependence on God we are sure to come to grief. This is true both individually...More

Are You Feeling Insecure? (3)

The Lordsaid to me, "Now, I have put my words in your mouth." '
Jeremiah 1:9 NIV

The people God calls usually start out feeling ill-equipped and insecure. Indeed, if you jumped and said, No problem, Lord, I can handle that,' He wouldn't call you at all. You say, but I've made so many...More

CO-PILOT USED SKY DEVIL' LOG IN

Be reminded that evidence from the cockpit voice recorder suggests that Mr. Andreas Lubitz, 27, the killer co-pilot of GERMAN WINGS FLIGHT 9525 locked the cock pit door when Capt Patrick Sondenheimer, 34, also of Dusseldorf city, left for a toilet break and used controls to override the entry code, crashing the plane...More
