Prologue to the Book of Revelation (1)—Revealing Christ

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants—things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John.
Revelation 1:1 NKJV

Prologue to the Book of Revelation (1)—Revealing Christ
Many look at the book of Revelation as a mystery, something that is complex and hard to understand, but the key is found in the very first two words of our verse, the Revelation. The Greek word for “revelation” means “to unveil”; it appears eighteen times in the New Testament, and every time it is used of a person it has the thought of becoming visible.

The book of Revelation is not so much about prophecy, even though it contains prophecy. The theme of this book is about revealing the Lord Jesus. The Lord Jesus came to reveal the Father (Mt. 11:27) and to declare Him (Jn. 1:18). But now the Father desires to reveal the Lord Jesus as the One He wishes to exalt because of who He is and because of what He has accomplished. This book is about Him!

There are many things we can learn as we read through the book of Revelation. We see in chapters 1 to 3 the warnings to the Church and the need for holiness. We read of the strength found in Christ, who is able to strengthen the believer to overcome Satan. In chapters 4 and 5, we read of the worship around the throne. This amazing book reveals the end of human history as we know it today, and outlines how it will come to pass. It also reveals the coming glory of the Lord Jesus in His earthly reign as King of kings and Lord of lords. It reminds us that those without Christ must answer to Him at the Great White Throne judgment and pulls back the curtain a little on what the eternal state will be like. But the theme woven throughout this book is the majesty and glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. Read the prologue to the Book of Revelation (1:1–8) and begin to get a glimpse of Him who is being revealed to us!

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

ATTENTIVE TO THE MASTER'S INSTRUCTIONS?

It is always good to pay close attention to instructions given by someone you claim to be your guide or guardian. Often, we miss many opportunities, breakthroughs and victories because we fail to see the details of the instructions given to us on a subject. A multinational company once held a promotional exam for...More
