Living a Life of Hope (3)

Paul, a bondservant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began.
Titus 1:1-2 NKJV

Living a Life of Hope (3)
What does your hope rest on? According to our verse, the believer's hope rests on the eternal life promised us as it is found in the Lord Jesus Christ. But let us examine this hope a bit more closely. It is based on several things. First, it is based on God Himself, on His Person. You and I have a hope given to us through the promises of a God who is, who was, and who always will be. He is an all-wise God whose understanding is infinite (Ps. 147:5), and His wisdom is past finding out (Rom. 11:33-34). He is a righteous God, who is absolutely holy, without sin, and He can only do that which is right (Dan. 9:14; 1 Jn. 1:5).

Secondly, our hope rests in Him, not only because of His Person, but because of His power! He is completely in control over Satan and all his forces (Job 1:12; 2:6), over every government and authority (2 Chr. 20:6; Rom. 13:1), and over nature (Ps. 107:29). He is a Sovereign God, and there is nothing in this universe that is out of His control!

Whatever you might be experiencing today, rest on the promises of a God who says, "You are mine! I love you and have redeemed you! I have given you eternal life through the finished work of My Son!" What peace and confidence we are able to enjoy, because our hope is in an unshakable God whose righteous character and infinite power adds weight to every promise He has given to us in His infallible Word!

It was Oswald Chambers who said, "Remember whose you are and whom you serve. Provoke yourself by recollection, and your affection for God will increase tenfold; your imagination will not be starved any longer, but will be quick and enthusiastic, and your hope will be inexpressibly bright."

-- Tim Hadley, Sr.

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

ATTENTIVE TO THE MASTER'S INSTRUCTIONS?

It is always good to pay close attention to instructions given by someone you claim to be your guide or guardian. Often, we miss many opportunities, breakthroughs and victories because we fail to see the details of the instructions given to us on a subject. A multinational company once held a promotional exam for...More
