The Good Seed - Monday, May 4, 2020

All scripture is given by inspiration of God.Prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21

Eternal God, the Creator of heaven and earth, has revealed Himself to mankind. In creation “His eternal power and Godhead” can be recognised (Romans 1:20).

Additionally, in the course of world history God has constantly made Himself known through His sayings and actions, in particular to His people Israel.

The greatest revelation of God, however, is to be seen in His Son, Jesus Christ. As a Man on earth the Son of God set forth the Person and the ways of God in His holiness and love.

Eye-witnesses have reported God’s dealings and revelation in Jesus Christ, not only orally but also in a permanent form: in the scriptures of the Old and the New Testaments.

The writers of the books of the Bible all had a limited view and were susceptible to error. But their writings in the Bible were “by inspiration of God”. In composing them the writers were “moved by the Holy Spirit”. We are thus able to distinguish the individual style of the different writers in various books of the Bible, but, at the same time, any human error is out of the question. Moreover, the writers received divine revelations on subjects that they themselves were unacquainted with, e.g. the origin or the future of the world.

Because the Bible has been inspired by God, it bears the seal of His authority. It is the perfectly reliable documentation of the revelation of God.

Today’s reading: Jeremiah 36:1-15 · Romans 8:1-11
