Who do you say that I am?
Matthew 16:15

What does Jesus Christ mean for you?
Jesus Christ asked His disciples the question in today’s verse from the Bible, after they had told Him who their contemporaries thought He was. You could be asked the same question; it demands a personal answer. It is not a matter of what your relatives or your friends think about Him, but you yourself.

The Bible gives plenty of information about Him. It tells us that He is the eternal Son of God; it reports His birth, describes His perfect life and His shameful death by crucifixion. It testifies His resurrection from the dead and His ascension to heaven. It presents Him as the Redeemer, who once died to save sinful persons.

Do you believe what the Word of God says of Jesus Christ? Are you prepared to lay hold of His work of redemption for you personally? He undertook it to save you and make you eternally happy. Now He expects a response from you to His love.

If you accept Him as your Saviour, you will get things right with God. He will forgive all your sins because you believe in His Son. At the same time you enter a relationship of faith in Christ. Your life will change fundamentally with Jesus having a firm place in it. He wishes to take over the leadership, so that your life will bring God joy. You can trust Him fully, for He has only blessing in mind for you.

So once again we ask you this decisive question: how do you stand with regard to Jesus Christ? Is He your personal Saviour and Lord?

Today’s reading: Jeremiah 31:1-14 · Romans 5:1-10
